Seborrheic dermatitis

Seborrheic dermatitis is an inflammatory disorder that causes flaking of the skin. White or yellowish scales form on oily areas such as the scalp (called dandruff) or inside the ear. Cradle crap is the term used when the seborrheic dermatitis affects the scalp of infants. It can affect different body areas, especially where the skin is oily or greasy.

You can treat dandruff with medicated or over-the-counter shampoo. Active ingredients in these shampoos include salicylic acid, coal tar, zinc, resorcin, ketoconazole, or selenium.
