These foods provide essential nutrients that your body need.
However, some food does not fit into the main food groups. There extra foods can add to the enjoyment of a healthy diet but it contains a lot of sugar and saturated fats. It should be eaten minimally.
To eat a healthy diet
-Eat enough food from each of the five food groups everyday.
-Choose different varieties of food from within each of five food groups from day to day.
-Eat plenty of plant food e.g. bread, cereal, vegetables, legumes and fruits
-Moderate amount of animal food e.g. milk, cheese, eggs, meat, fish.
-Drink plenty of water
